As a clinical Massage Therapist, students at Southeastern Esthetics Institute learn how to apply massage techniques to treat soft tissue injuries, chronic pain and myofascial injury, and structural and postural distortions. Massage Therapy is a very REWARDING career by way of relieving pain through therapeutic touch! Massage Therapists can work in a variety of settings – including spas, gyms, and healthcare settings. Some Massage Therapists may prefer to operate their own independent practice.

Provide a Strong Foundational Knowledge Base: Teach the basic anatomical and physiological principles related to massage therapy | Instruct on the fundamental theories and practices of massage and its historical context | Offer comprehensive training on the body’s systems and how they interrelate with therapeutic massage modalities.
Develop Hands-on Skills and Techniques: Facilitate practical training in various massage techniques including Swedish, deep tissue, sports, and reflexology | Encourage proficiency in physical assessment and hands-on maneuvers that align with clients’ therapeutic needs | Prioritize safe and effective methods of practice, focusing on proper body mechanics and client positioning.
Promote Understanding of Professional Practice: Educate students on the ethical considerations and the legal aspects of Massage Therapy | Instill the importance of cultural competence, communication skills, and client confidentiality | Prepare students for the business management aspects of massage therapy including client retention, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
Prepare for Certification and Employment: Prepare students to successfully pass the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx) | Assist in the development of resumes, interviewing skills, and other job-seeking strategies | Provide guidance on career paths, including specializations within Massage Therapy.
